The shipbuilding program of the Vafias Group is approaching 1 billion dollars.

According to sources, Stealth Maritime exercised the option it had with the Hyundai shipbuilding group for the construction of four more tankers, two Suezmax and two LR2.

This move follows the initial orders recorded in November 2025 for the construction of two Suezmax tankers with a capacity of 165,000 dwt, to be delivered at the end of 2028, at a price of approximately 87 million dollars each.

Also, for the construction of two LR2 tankers with a capacity of 115,000 dwt, with delivery at the end of 2028, at a cost of approximately 75 million each.

The ships will be equipped with the latest, energy-efficient specifications and will run on conventional fuels.

Last year, the company made a similar move with two smaller MR-type tankers at the HD Hyundai Mipo shipyards, raising its total number of orders to four ships.

At the same time, the group, which has five companies, three listed on the US stock exchange and two private, is also building an LPG carrier on behalf of the listed StealthGas.

It is noted that the Vafias Group cooperates closely with the South Korean shipbuilding group, in whose yards it has built 19 out of a total of 25 ships in recent years.

In addition, the Group, which has a fleet of approximately 100 ships, is also actively involved in the field of ship buying and selling.

Vafias has invested approximately 500 million dollars in purchases of used ships since early 2023, mainly bulk carriers and product tankers.
