Agreement signing ceremony with Hanwha Power Systems group in Washington
Security of natural gas supply and transatlantic cooperation in the energy sector are at the heart of the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit, which is taking place in Washington.
The forum is attended by representatives from 12 European countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Lithuania and Croatia, with discussions focusing on the challenges and prospects for strengthening energy security in the wider region.
ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group is participating in the conference, with a delegation led by the group’s president and CEO, Panos Xenokostas. According to sources, the discussions taking place are examining, among other things, the role of the shipbuilding industry in the development of energy infrastructure, with an emphasis on liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers and floating storage and regasification units (FSRU).
On Wednesday, February 25, the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between ONEX Shipyards & Technologies and the Hanwha Power Systems group is scheduled. The event is expected to be attended by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou.
The agreement is part of the broader framework of initiatives to strengthen energy security and expand cooperation between European and international bodies in the energy and shipbuilding sectors. As reported by competent sources, the signing of the agreement is expected to be a starting point for further collaborations, with an emphasis on the development and support of energy infrastructure projects in Greece and the wider region.
