Agreement with Schroders Greencoat for the sale of a portfolio of 7 photovoltaic projects
Schroders Greencoat, a specialist energy transition infrastructure manager for Schroders Capital, has entered into an agreement with METLEN Energy & Metals to acquire a portfolio of seven photovoltaic projects in the United Kingdom on behalf of its clients.
The 7 projects, located in areas of England and Scotland, have been developed, constructed and commercially structured by METLEN.
Of the total portfolio of 283 MWp, 143 MW are already operational and complete, while the remaining 140 MW are under construction, with an expected commercial operation (COD) in Q2 2026. The projects cover energy needs that meet the needs of 89,333 households.
In addition, they have long-term offtake agreements with Vodafone and Engie, which ensure high revenue visibility and stable cash flows.
Extensive expertise, unparalleled project delivery capabilities and market access create a unique platform that enables London-listed METLEN to capitalise on the growing energy transition trends.
Second transaction
This is the second transaction between Schroders Greencoat and METLEN, following the acquisition, on behalf of its clients, of a portfolio of approximately 110 MWp of PV in the UK in 2024. The agreement further strengthens their partnership and establishes Schroders Greencoat as one of the largest managers of operating ground-based PV parks in the UK.
Nikos Papapetrou, Chief Executive Director Renewables & Energy Transition Platform, METLEN commented: “This transaction marks another significant milestone in the successful implementation of METLEN’s global Asset Rotation strategy. It demonstrates how well-structured projects, combined with METLEN’s unique construction and execution capabilities, continue to attract high-quality institutional investors, allowing us to capitalise on value. Over time, we have developed a strong relationship with Schroders Greencoat, one of the UK’s leading renewables investors, and this transaction demonstrates how mutual trust and alignment of long-term objectives lead to partnerships that deliver lasting value.”
Duncan Hale, Portfolio Manager at Schroders Greencoat, said: “This acquisition is a significant milestone for both Schroders Greencoat and UK pension savers. In our opinion, by adding these high-quality, income-generating PV projects to our portfolio, we aim to enable investors to support the country’s energy transition towards a low-carbon future, while earning stable returns in a strategically critical sector. We are very pleased to partner with METLEN again and look forward to continuing this successful partnership.”
This development highlights the consistent implementation of METLEN’s Asset Rotation Plan, enabling value capitalization and capital reallocation to high-growth opportunities across all of the Company’s business areas.
