Greece’s inflation at 3% in February

Greece’s inflation accelerated in February, ranking fifth among eurozone member states.

According to preliminary data from Eurostat, annual inflation rose to 3.0% from 2.9% in January. Across the eurozone, the harmonized index of consumer prices edged up to 1.9% from 1.7% in the first month of 2026, remaining below the European Central Bank’s 2% target.

In Greece, inflation in food, alcohol and tobacco held at an elevated 4.1%, unchanged from January. The services sector continued to record upward momentum, with prices rising 4.2% year-on-year, compared with 4.1% a month earlier. Energy prices remained in negative territory, though the rate of decline eased to -3.5% from -4.4% in January.

At the euro zone level, services had the strongest upward pressure on prices, rising 3.4% annually from 3.2% in January. Inflation in food, alcohol and tobacco was steady at 2.6%, while the redution in energy prices moderated to -3.2%, compared with a 4% drop in the previous month.
