Hans & Gretel opens new store in Cairo; expands its international footprint
Hans & Gretel’s opened a new store in Cairo, as a central pillar of its growth strategy is the strengthening of its footprint in the international thematic food retail market.
This move marks the company’s dynamic penetration into the Egyptian market and, more broadly, the Middle East, confirming the outward-looking orientation of the Greek concept launched in 2017.
As highlighted during the inauguration event of the new store, the company’s management, led by founder Thanasis Anyfantis, in cooperation with local partner (franchisee) Mahmood Saad, is already advancing plans for further expansion of its network across Egypt. The positive response of the local market to the brand’s quality standards and experiential character creates favorable conditions for the addition of new points of sale in the near future. At the same time, within the framework of its upcoming investment plan, Hans & Gretel is targeting entry into markets with strong commercial and tourism potential. The strategy includes expansion into the United States, with Boston as the first destination, as well as operations in Romania, the Philippines, Morocco, and Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the chain’s domestic presence is being strengthened with new planned openings in Naxos, Rethymno, and Athens. Currently, Hans & Gretel’s network comprises a total of 32 locations (“Magic Spots”) across eight countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Cyprus, and Turkey. Its business model is based on the standardization of both the customer experience and raw materials, with only targeted adjustments to the product mix to meet local consumer preferences. The company’s future growth is supported by strong investment interest. At the same time, the chain continues to develop new commercial concepts and innovative products, aiming to maintain its competitiveness on the global industry map and to transform simple consumption into a comprehensive retail experience.
