JTI’s Japanese roots mean long-term strategy and a focus on quality

“JTI is a global company with more than 47,000 employees worldwide and its headquarters in Geneva. We are particularly proud of our Japanese heritage and this is reflected in the way we conduct our business and operate on a daily basis.

Japanese values are an integral part of our everyday operations,” JTI Hellas General Manager Janine Neuhaus said at the 2nd N-TIF Forum.

“What does this mean? It means long-term thinking, a long-term strategy and a strong focus on quality. Therefore, whatever we do, we genuinely ensure the highest possible quality,” the JTI Hellas General Manager stressed, adding that the company also places great emphasis on its employees and society.

“We invest in the local community and work with the local environment, with the aim of offering something more meaningful than simply operating as a company,” she said.

“We are here to stay”

Asked about the impact of JTI’s investment in Xanthi, Neuhaus said: “We have not been operating here only since this year; we have been here for four decades already. In 2018, we acquired SEKAP —a manufacturing company based here— and invested significant amounts to increase productivity and ensure that the plant meets global standards. We invested more than $47 million to turn it into a world-class manufacturing facility. As a result, today we export 74% of our production internationally.”

“We are here to stay, we are here to grow, and we genuinely believe in the future,” she added.

She referred to JTI’s strong cooperation with the Japanese embassy and the Greek government, adding: “I would also recommend that other Japanese companies come here. This is a long-term undertaking; it is not a move aimed at making a quick profit. The investment must be sustainable and focused on the long-term future.”
