MedCruise visits the Port of Patras

The President of the Mediterranean Cruise Ports Association (MedCruise), Theodora Riga, was received on by the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Patras Port Authority S.A., Panagiotis Anastasopoulos, in the context of a working meeting focused on cruise development and prospects for strengthening the presence of the Port of Patras in the Mediterranean cruise market.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the development prospects of cruise tourism in Patras and the wider Western Greece region, as well as opportunities to further enhance the port’s position on the Mediterranean cruise map. Particular emphasis was placed on the outward-looking initiatives and international promotion activities implemented by Port of Patras through its active participation in MedCruise, the international organization that promotes the cruise industry in the Mediterranean and neighbouring seas, providing its members with networking, promotional, and partnership development opportunities.

The meeting highlighted the strategic position of the Port of Patras as a gateway to Western Greece and its potential as an emerging cruise destination, supported by modern port infrastructure and further development capacity.

The company emphasized that it continues to invest in upgrading its services and infrastructure, aiming to attract more cruise ship calls, strengthen the local economy, and promote Patras and the surrounding region as an attractive tourist and cultural destination.

The President of MedCruise, Theodora Riga, referred to the positive outlook for the cruise sector in the Mediterranean, noting that the region is recording steady growth, with increased passenger traffic and rising interest from international cruise companies. She also underlined the importance of cooperation among Mediterranean ports in promoting sustainable and high-quality cruise services.

Patras Port Authority S.A. reiterated its commitment to the strategic development of cruise tourism, strengthening its international presence and creating new prospects for maritime tourism and local development.
