New acquisition in the defense sector and dual use technology – Expansion into defense tech
The listed Quality and Reliability is investing in the defense sector and dual-use technology, with the acquisition of a 51% stake in MTIS S.A., which operates in the maritime and dual-use technology sector.
The total price of the transaction amounts to 2,663,958 euros and will be paid in two (2) equal installments of 1,331,979 euros each (the 1st to be paid upon signing and the 2nd in 2027 upon the publication of its financial results).
As emphasized by Dr. Panagiotis Paschalakis, CEO of QNR, “our participation in MTIS constitutes a strategic investment in highly reliable technology, with a strong dual-use orientation and a clear defence-tech footprint.
Shipping, as one of the most crucial sectors of the global economy, requires highly resilient and operationally ready solutions. With MTIS, we are strengthening our ability to offer integrated solutions that connect maritime technology with defense and security applications, opening new horizons for growth and international expansion.”
Strategic significance of the investment
MTIS achieved sales of 1,036,760 euros and EBITDA of 320,430 euros in the first half of 2025. It is an internationally recognized provider of advanced technological solutions with a strong footprint in maritime technology and defense technology (defence-tech), with dual-use applications that serve both commercial and operational/government needs.
It has presence and expertise in sectors such as defense & security, maritime surveillance and operational awareness, civil protection, environmental monitoring and critical infrastructure. The central element of its technological proposal is the i-Platform©, a single digital platform with a modular architecture and open structure, integrating IoT, AI and Big Data technologies. The i-Platform© supports secure remote monitoring in real time, predictive analysis, role-based user interface, notification mechanisms/KPIs and advanced reporting/BI capabilities, serving critical dual-use/defense-tech requirements (e.g. resilience, interoperability, reliability and secure data management).
In this way, the QnR Group follows its strategy for targeted investments in cutting-edge technologies with high added value. The investment further strengthens its position, creating prospects for substantial technological and commercial synergies in projects that combine sensors, data platforms, analytics and artificial intelligence, with potential for exploitation in both the private and public sectors.
