New fast track cycle in the Greek defense system

Ημερομηνία: 16-04-2026

A new Fast Track Request for Information (RFI) cycle launched by the Hellenic Center for Defence Innovation (ELKAK) paves the way for the participation of Greek companies in the development of capabilities addressing the requirements of the modern battlefield, with validation under real operational conditions.

Specifically, the call focuses on solutions in Unmanned Systems (UxS) and ground-based Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS). The objective is to enable the participation of Greek companies in the Live Tactical Exercise with Troops scheduled for June 2026.

This initiative constitutes the first step in implementing the 2026 Programme Framework for the integration of the domestic defence ecosystem into Armed Forces exercises, developed by ELKAK in coordination with the Hellenic National Defence General Staff and the Service General Staffs. In operational terms, the aim is to accelerate the transition from technical assessment to field testing and evaluation under realistic conditions alongside the Armed Forces. The consultation phase is scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 9, 2026, while trials are planned on June 8-12, 2026.

Contemporary Operational Environment

According to sector experts, “the development and employment of Unmanned Systems (UxS) across land, maritime, and air domains to support the targeting cycle—Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, Assess (F2T2EA)—for both stationary and mobile targets has advanced rapidly in recent years. Their use can deliver high operational effectiveness, as demonstrated by lessons learned from contemporary theatres of operation. There is an urgent requirement to enhance the Armed Forces with appropriate UxS capable of executing a broad spectrum of missions, with a view to their integration into operations as a comprehensive, modular, and network-centric system. Such a system would support the tactical commander in the collection, analysis, processing, and dissemination of target intelligence, as well as in engagement decision-making.”
