Northern Greece can play a pivotal role in Greece’s productive transformation

The next chapter for the Greek economy following the prime minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), as well as the crucial role Northern Greece can play in the country’s productive transformation, were highlighted by Naftemporiki Group General Director Spyros Ktenas as he opened the proceedings of Naftemporiki’s 2nd N-TIF Forum in Thessaloniki.

Welcoming participants, Ktenas stressed that Naftemporiki was opening the discussion on what comes after the government’s announcements, with attention now turning to the economic and strategic priorities of the period ahead.

“One day after the prime minister’s announcements from the TIF podium, Naftemporiki is opening the discussion on what comes next: what the economy needs to do, where investment should be directed, how productivity can be strengthened, and how the country’s geographical position can be turned into an economic and strategic advantage,” he said in his opening remarks.

For the second consecutive year, Naftemporiki is organising the N-TIF Forum in cooperation with TIF-Helexpo, with the aim of highlighting the forces that can drive growth in the Greek economy in the years ahead.

The role of Northern Greece

Ktenas placed particular emphasis on Northern Greece, stressing that the region could play a decisive role in the country’s efforts to rebuild its productive base.

He highlighted major infrastructure projects, logistics, ports and transport, as well as energy investments, which underscore the pivotal role Thessaloniki can play as a business and energy hub for Southeast Europe.

He also stressed the importance of innovation, entrepreneurship and Greek businesses at a time when boosting competitiveness and outward orientation remains a key priority for the economy.

Moreover, he stressed that the conference will move beyond announcements and measures to a discussion on the investments and productive forces that can shape the next chapter of the Greek economy.
