PPC owns the second largest fiber optic network
Competition in fiber optic connections to homes and businesses (FTTH) is further strengthened with PPC developing its network in new areas of the country.
PPC Fiber is available in 41 areas and to approximately 1 million households and professionals nationwide (ready for service) while it has passed 1.7 million (homes passed), a fact that, as the company’s management emphasized, makes it the second largest fiber optic network in Greece.
According to the data available at the end of 2025, OTE, as the largest telecommunications provider, had installed around 2.1 million connections, with a target, after undertaking the entire partially subsidized Ultra Fast Broadband (UFBB) project, of 3.5 million by 2030.
The strategic development plan for PPC FiberGrid’s FTTH provides for the network to reach 3.8 million households and businesses by 2028. PPC’s competitive advantage is based on its ability to quickly install FTTH connections, leveraging its existing infrastructure, with an average cost per connection of 160 euros and consequently providing the consumer with a particularly competitive price for their internet connection from a fixed location.
PPC’s FiberGrid FTTH network has been designed and implemented with a 100% end-to-end fiber-optic architecture, ensuring very high speeds of up to 10 Gbps and the possibility of unlimited future scalability.
According to the management, PPC’s investments (capex) in FTTH in the period 2026 – 2028 will amount to 420 million euros, within the framework of its overall investment plan of 10 billion euros. Also based on management estimates, it will have around 590 thousand customers connected to its network in 2028, achieving EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of around 100 million euros by 2030.
PPC’s planning includes the provision of voice services (fixed telephony) within the year, while currently its network is available at the wholesale level in two ways. The first concerns the provision of wholesale services via bitstream with speeds of 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps with Downstream/Upstream ratio and the second concerns the provision of wholesale dark fiber services.
