The central role of shipping in the modern strategic relationship between Greece and the United States was highlighted by the United States Ambassador to Greece and Honorary President of Propeller Piraeus, Kimberly Guilfoyle, at the Club’s New Year’s Eve event.

In her speech, she emphasized the fact that Greece is a stable and reliable partner for the United States, in a period of increased international challenges, while underlining the clear and practical support of the Trump presidency for our country.

She made particular reference to the importance of cooperation in the fields of shipping, energy and infrastructure, noting that the deepening of bilateral relations is based on shared values, mutual trust and long-term strategic planning, with shipping functioning as a stable pillar of understanding and joint initiatives.

In his greeting, the president of the Propeller Club of Piraeus, and president of the international organization, Costis Frangoulis, after extending his wishes for the new year, referred to international geopolitical developments and the increased challenges facing maritime safety, underlining the need to protect commercial shipping.

At the same time, he made a brief assessment of 2025, highlighting the dynamic extroversion and action of Propeller Piraeus.

Special mention was made of the Club’s social work, which in the current financial year supported 23 organizations and 25 students, with special reference to the collaboration with the HOPEgenesis organization and the donation to the Greek Navy.

Frangoulis stated: “I feel particularly satisfied with the evolution of Propeller Piraeus into a leading business Club, with a strong voice and multidimensional presence in Greek and international society and shipping. This development is not self-evident and of course it should not stop here. It requires competent management, consistency and vision, but above all strong support from our Members, who are our real strength”.

This was followed by the greeting of the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, George Alexandratos, who focused on the timeless role of the Propeller Club of Piraeus as a point of reference for dialogue, cooperation and interconnection of the maritime community, stating: “I am sure that many professional partnerships in shipping began with people exchanging a card at an event of the Propeller Club of Piraeus. And this proves that the value of an institution is not measured only by its prestige and achievements, but by the real opportunities it creates for its people. And, since we are talking about propellers, this is also a proper propulsion mechanism”.

He also referred to the strategic importance of Greek-American relations in the maritime sector, underlining the growing interest of the United States, while he also made special reference to the presence and attitude of the new US ambassador to Greece.

Also present at the event were the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Greece, the Chief of the Naval General Staff, the Commander of the Hellenic Navy Fleet, the Commander and Deputy Commanders of the Coast Guard-Hellenic Coast Guard, the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Athens and representatives of the US Mission in Greece, the President of the American College of Greece, former presidents and former governors of the Propeller Club of Piraeus, along with representatives of the maritime and business community.
