“The safety of our seafarers remains a top priority”,Global Ship Lease Chairman George Giouroukos commented on the developments in the Persian Gulf.

During the presentation of the company’s financial results, listed on the NYSE, Giouroukos commented: “The recent tension around Iran adds further uncertainty, particularly by making the Strait of Hormuz a high-risk hub. The safety of seafarers remains a top priority.”

These changes highlight the importance of containerships that offer a combination of flexibility and efficiency, such as those in the GSL fleet.

Decentralized and dispersed supply chains are inherently less efficient than the previous streamlined model, requiring more ships for the same volume of cargo. In 2025, container volume increased by 5% compared to the previous year. Our flexibility has given us 2.7 years of contracts and 2.2 billion dollars in contracted revenue, with 99% of open positions covered for 2026 and 80% for 2027.”

The company, which specializes in the management of small and medium-sized containerships, continued its upward trajectory in 2025, ending the year with a 55 million dollar increase in revenue and a 73 million dollar increase in profits compared to 2024. The NYSE-listed company recorded revenue of 766.5 million, while its net profit amounted to 406.9 million.

On February 11, 2026, the company announced that it would deliver a dividend of 0.625 euros per common share for the fourth quarter of 2025, payable on or about March 6, 2026. A dividend of 0.625 per share was also paid for the third quarter of 2025.
