There is life after the RRF

Ημερομηνία: 28-04-2026

2025 was one of the best years in the history of Uni Systems, a member of the Quest group, the company’s CEO, Yiannis Loumakis, said at the presentation of its financial and operational report, adding that 2026 is expected to move at the same levels as last year.

“There is clearly life after the RRF. We see opportunities ahead of us that amount to 400 million euros in value,” he said and noted: “Regarding the implementation of the RRF projects that have already been assigned,” he noted that their implementation requires acceleration until June 2026, which is the end of the program, while he admitted that he has undertaken projects with a 6-month implementation time. However, he noted that more time is required in order to “back” the country, so that EU funds are not lost.

Loumakis noted that geopolitical developments are clearly impacting the technology sector, driving up prices for tech products and rendering a number of projects financially unviable. Price increases in certain hardware categories have reached as much as 150%, making technology projects increasingly risky. Companies in the sector, such as Uni Systems, have called on the government to address the issue although no solution has been provided.

Artificial Intelligence and Defence

According to Loumakis, Uni Systems is operating well above the average level of the Greek IT market, competing for projects both in Greece and across Europe, in the private sector—particularly in energy and banking—as well as in the public sector and defence.

In defence, Uni Systems is already participating in initiatives under ELKAK and the European Defence Fund (EDF), focusing on leveraging the opportunity for Greek companies to secure up to 25% participation in major defence procurement programs being implemented or planned in Greece. Loumakis made clear that Uni Systems will play an active role in defence projects, with a focus on areas such as drones, cybersecurity and satellite systems, as well as the broader digital transformation of defence.

The company’s CEO also outlined its AI-first strategic direction, presenting Synthesis AI—an integrated digital transformation model that embeds artificial intelligence across its full range of solutions and services, with a human-centric approach. Synthesis AI serves as a unified operating framework linking AI with broader business and technological transformation, reflecting the company’s AI-first strategy both in its internal operations—where it has already been in use for the past year—and in the solutions it delivers to the market.

As Loumakis stressed, “as a company, we must be ready—and we aim to be at the forefront of what is coming in artificial intelligence.” Commenting on Europe’s position and the changes AI is set to bring, he added: “Europe has fallen significantly behind the rest of the world. If Europe wants geopolitical autonomy, it needs to control technology. AI will undoubtedly bring major socio-economic disruptions. As the saying goes, the bullet has already left the gun.”
