Thessaloniki Port a key gateway for the city’s new infrastructure

The Port of Thessaloniki is once again at the centre of the city’s urban transport renewal.

In 1957, new buses for Thessaloniki arrived through the port, while in 2026 they were followed by the new electric buses of OASTH, highlighting the transition to a different model of urban mobility. The vehicles arrived at the port aboard the M/V “Anji Ansheng”, one of the world’s largest car carriers, which unloaded a total of 119 vehicles.

Thessaloniki Port Authority (THPA) CEO Dr Ioannis Tsaras stressed that, despite major changes in technology and the city itself, the port continues to serve as a key gateway for Thessaloniki’s new infrastructure and transport needs.
