METLEN gets ISO certification for conflict of interest management standard

Metlen has signed a new gallium supply agreement with a leading Japanese chemicals company.

Specifically, the company announced the signing of a long-term commercial agreement with a Japanese chemicals company for the future supply of gallium up to 16% of its total annual production from its production facility in Greece, which is at an advanced stage of construction. The commercial terms of the agreement remain confidential.

The new partnership is the second strategic commercial agreement for Metlen’s future gallium production and further confirms strong international demand for a reliable European source of supply. “As industries worldwide seek to diversify their supply chains for critical raw materials, Metlen is further strengthening its position as a reliable, long-term partner to leading industrial and technology companies across different geographic markets,” the company said in a statement.

Gallium opens doors to global companies

The growing commercial interest reflects both the strategic importance of gallium and confidence in Metlen’s integrated production model, which combines in-house technology, secured raw material supplies from Aluminium of Greece and industrial-scale production capabilities that are unique in Europe.

With each new commercial partnership, Greece is strengthening its position as an emerging hub for critical raw materials, while Europe is significantly strengthening its presence in one of the most strategically important value chains.

“The international response to our gallium production project continues to exceed our expectations,” Evangelos Mytilineos, Executive Chairman of Metlen, said regarding the agreement. As he noted, “the successive commercial agreements we are announcing demonstrate that global industry is seeking reliable, high-quality and diversified sources of supply.”

“Through this investment, Greece is becoming part of a new global technology ecosystem, while Europe is gradually consolidating its role in a strategically important market that will form the foundation for the next generation of industrial and technological innovation,” Mytilineos added.

According to the company, the new agreement means that the entire planned annual production of 50 MT will now be sold for several years, well before production begins, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.

“Beyond gallium itself, these agreements confirm Metlen’s strategic direction in the M Critical & Rare Metals – CRM division of M Metals. They also demonstrate that foresight, innovation and industrial expertise can create internationally competitive supply chains for materials that are essential to the technologies of the future,” the company said.
