The First Vice-President of the Hellenic Parliament, Giannis  Plakiotakis, welcomed the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and the Korean delegation to the Greek Parliament.

A meeting and working lunch were held during the visit, attended by representatives of the Korean political and business communities and Greek MPs, with a focus on strengthening bilateral economic and parliamentary cooperation.

Participants included the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Greece, Lim Ju-seong, the head of the Korean parliamentary delegation, and representatives of major Korean companies, including executives from LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Hanwha Ocean and HD Hyundai
Heavy Industries. The Greek side was represented by the Secretary-General of Parliament, Vassilios Bagiokos, as well as MPs and members of the Greece–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Plakiotakis highlighted the two countries’ shared commitment to the principles of democracy, freedom, security and peace, based on international law. He expressed confidence that the already excellent relations between Greece and South Korea could be further strengthened
for the benefit of both peoples.

He placed particular emphasis on shipping and shipbuilding, noting that the Greek-owned fleet accounts for approximately 20% of global shipping capacity, with more than 5,500 vessels, while around 2,000 ships have been built at South Korean shipyards over the past 50 years.

He also highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in tourism, culture and advanced technologies, underlining the role of parliamentary diplomacy as a bridge for dialogue and closer ties between the two countries.
