Hellenic Shipyards Association participates in Hamburg’s SMM trade fair
The Hellenic Shipyards Association (HSA), in cooperation with Enterprise Greece, participated with a national pavilion at the SMM international trade fair in Germany, providing dedicated space for 34 leading Greek companies and member organisations.
SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology) is the leading international trade fair for the maritime industry. Held every two years in Hamburg, it is the world’s most important meeting point for shipyards, technology providers and shipping companies. During the exhibition, a series of key bilateral meetings were held, forging new international partnerships and strengthening the international presence of Greek shipyards and the wider shipbuilding industry ecosystem.
The HSA pavilion was visited by Dr. Christoph Ploß, Coordinator of the German Federal Government for the Maritime Economy and Tourism, as well as Lis Kathrin Puvogel, representing VSM (Verband für Schiffbau und Meerestechnik e.V. – Association for Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries), the German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association based in Hamburg.
The Association stressed that Europe needs a unified industrial and energy strategy to safeguard its competitiveness, provide strong incentives to make Greek – and, consequently, European – shipyards more attractive, and avoid dependence on third countries in critical sectors such as energy and raw materials.
