New storage and distribution centre in Elefsina
AB Vassilopoulos inaugurated its new storage and distribution centre in Elefsina, in the presence of Barbara van Hellemond, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Greece.
With a total floor area of 35,500 sq m, 35 loading bays and advanced storage and order-management technologies, the new facility is part of the company’s broader investment plan to develop and modernise its infrastructure.
According to the company’s management, the investment is designed to create a more modern and flexible network, leveraging technology and speed while continuously upgrading the customer shopping experience. It significantly strengthens AB Vassilopoulos’ supply chain capabilities and supports its nationwide network, with a particular focus on southern Greece.
160 employees and external partners
The new Elefsina centre will handle products across 17 non-food categories, covering around 6,000 SKUs, while the facility has an annual handling capacity of more than 24 million cases. Its operations are supported by 160 employees and external partners.
At the same time, the use of technologies such as voice picking, multi-store picking and high-density full-pallet storage systems is enhancing the speed and efficiency of product handling.
The investment is expected to expand further in 2027 with the addition of an approximately 1,000-sq-m refrigerated cross-docking area and 11 additional loading bays. This will enable the combined handling and distribution of fresh products and fast-moving consumer goods.
The investment forms part of the company’s broader growth strategy, reflected both in its five-year investment plan and its 2025 financial results.
As part of the event, the company’s management presented AB Vassilopoulos’ financial results for 2025. Revenue reached €2 billion, marking a 3.5% increase.
At the same time, with €52 million invested in stores, its network, infrastructure, distribution, new technologies and green growth, AB Vassilopoulos is laying strong foundations for the future as it continues its transformation and growth strategy.
2 new company-owned stores and 46 new franchise stores
AB Vassilopoulos’ investment programme totalled €52 million in 2025, with a focus on expanding and modernising its store network, new technologies, infrastructure and green-growth initiatives.
At the same time, the company continued to expand its presence in the Greek market, adding two new company-owned stores and 46 new franchise stores.
The network expansion is aimed at meeting changing consumer needs, with an emphasis on proximity, convenience and speed in everyday shopping.
