Pyxis Tankers, controlled by Valentios Valentis, has agreed to acquire the remaining 40% stake in the company that owns the Ultramax bulk carrier Ormi, thereby securing full economic ownership of the vessel.
The Japanese-built, scrubber-fitted Ormi, with a carrying capacity of 63,250 dwt and built in 2016, was acquired in 2023 for $28.5 million. Pyxis initially held a 60% stake, while the remaining 40% was owned by a company linked to the listed company’s CEO.
Three independent shipbrokers recently valued the vessel at an average of $32.08 million. After deducting $15 million in debt, net equity is estimated at $17.08 million, putting the value of the 40% stake at $6.83 million.
The transaction is expected to be completed in October and, according to the company, will immediately boost earnings and free cash flow without adding debt.
